The Interview

1. Tell us about yourself and your work

I’m a UI/UX Designer, based in Victoria, British Columbia in Canada. If you're unfamiliar with UI and UX, UI means ‘User Interface’ and UX means ‘User Experience’. So I design the overall user experience of using a product and the look/feel of the product, based on the experience. So I am working at a consulting studio designing mobile applications for clients.

2. If you could tell your younger self anything, what would it be?

If you really want something, stay ambitious because as long as you work hard, you can really achieve it. Enjoy life and go experience new things, even though you don't want to or you're too scared.

3. What are your hobbies?

I'm pretty plain so I like to watch movies and TV, play video games here and there, and photography. I really like going out on walks to clear my mind, and I just started doing yoga!

4. If you could go to the past or future, where would you stay and why?

I would definitely go to the future. I love tech, which is why I'm in the industry! So I'm really curious to see what the future will look like and the technological advancements we will have. So much technological advancements are currently underway, but what will it really be like in the future?

5. If you could have been born in a different country, which would it be? Why?

France. Everything about European and French culture just fascinates me. I love the French language, their art, and the coffee culture.

6. Tell us something you hate doing. Why?

I really don't like cooking, and I've gotten worse over the years. Weird right?! I don't like how much prep work it takes and how long it takes to make something. especially compared to the amount of time it takes to actually eat. It is so short!

7. What's the one thing you can’t live without?

Internet. I didn’t have internet for a few days and it was the most difficult thing to do.

8. As a child, what did you wish to become when you grew up?

I bounced around with a few jobs. Mostly it was being an artist but there were phases when I wanted to be a flight attendant and a teacher. I ended up teaching ESL for a few years, back when I was in Korea, but it wasn’t for me. Then I tried flight attendant but I don't think that job suits me at all! And now finally, I'm an artist/designer!

9. What is your favourite quote?

"Eventually, everything connects"

I love this quote so much I even got it tattooed on my arm. I'm a firm believer of fate and everything that happens, happens for reason, and eventually, it all connects.

10. Name 2 things you consider yourself to be very bad at.

Cooking and running. I'm not very good at those, but honestly, I have tried (haha) - (we believe you, Judy).
